Multi-tasking Mom

Those of you who know me personally are aware that I am first, and foremost, a mother to a beautiful, strong, and intelligent two year old daughter named Coral. She is unique in the sense that she has a broken pancreas, or Type 1 diabetes. It's an autoimmune disease where the body attacks its pancreas destroying the insulin-producing beta cells. Eventually, a Type 1 diabetic (T1d) will cease to produce their own insulin completely and becomes dependent on it to live and fight another day. They have to take insulin either by injections or an insulin pump, which Coral now has...

Farewell Bugz

Beloved Dog Bugz California Family Furiend Farewell Gardena Los Angeles Ohana Rainbow Bridge RIP

Farewell Bugz

If you follow my instagram @islanddoggie, then you're well aware of the passing of my golden chihuahua, Bugz "Bugzy Boo." He crossed the rainbow bridge on Wednesday, January 25th in the afternoon in our living room. It was all so sudden and unexpected. Now that I've finally found some closure, I'm able to reflect on some of the events that happened before that dreaded day. On Monday, December 27th, my family and I tucked Bugz and Joey in their furry house on the balcony while we went to go eat some dim sum in Brentwood which was about a 30...

Pawduct Review

Pawduct Review

Lighting Soft Paws   I always appreciate it when my customers leave me thoughtful reviews and enjoy doing the same when I find a product I love. Recently, I found a fellow handmade doggie business on Instagram @lightningsoftpaws. So, I contacted her and she generously sent us the Paw Shield and Paw Cream in exchange for a couple of photos and my honest review. Joey, my...

We Moved!

FROM HAWAII TO CALI On August 29th, my family and I took a one-way flight from Honolulu, HI to Los Angeles, CA. My husband received a job offer we couldn't refuse and decided we would save up enough money to move back someday. We were saddened to have to leave the islands, but realistically, the jobs there don't pay enough to support a family - especially with a Type 1 diabetic toddler and two dogs. On a positive note, this would be my second time living in LA since I left in 2011 after earning my Bachelor's degree and valuable...
